Thailand Flood Update

Report 13:
3 more districts were added to the existing 13 high risk flood areas in Bangkok on Thursday by the Bangkok Governor.
While flood levels are on the rise it is not expected that all districts in the capital will be under water claimed the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and would continue to combat the elements in order to protect the city.
The Royal Irrigation Department also claimed that the floodwater should be drained into the sea through various canals east of Bangkok.
Today, however run-offs and high tide from Chao Praya River which is on the west side of the city flooded China town. On the west side of the dykes that are still holding the water level has reached 2.4 m. to 2.5 m.
The local government last evening suggested for people who live in the high risk zone to move outside of the city. Roads, bus terminals and airports are congested with people wanting to leave.
Ocean Freight and Bangkok Ports (PAT)
Bangkok ports and Lad Krabang I.C.D. are still operating.
Bangkok Klongtoey port (P.A.T.) however does not accept anymore discharge of import containers. At Lad Krabang only a few carriers still providing service for receiving import containers. Some carriers do not accept laden export containers at Lad Krabang I.C.D.
Laem Chabang Deep Sea Port in Chonburi province is running normally, however congestion is building up. Facilities there are getting jammed with import cargo not being picked up by factories affected by floods. Some carriers are asking to do not deliver export containers to C.Y. earlier than 96 hours prior to sailing. Some carriers do not accept anymore import and export CFS cargo at Laem Chabang.
Air freight and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport
Airport as well as the highway connecting it to Bangkok city is functioning normally.
